LIVING IN HALLS
Halls are so handy to live in, they are usually located on campus or
very near to where you are studying.
Most halls are usually quite well looked after and come with communal
showers, kitchens and single bedrooms. And if you have the £ and
like living like a Toff you might find your self in an en-suite room in
halls.
Another benefit of halls is that you are permanently with other students,
so the buzz and the crack can be the business at times.
Good points about living in halls
- Usually nicely furnished and kept clean by university staff. (But
you will still have to wash up after yourself).
- If any problems ie no heating, no electricity the university/college
will usually fix the faults immediately.
- Most halls have wardens or senior residents so minor problems like
your next door neighbour comes to life at 3am can be easily solved.
- Very little to be spent on travelling from university/college to halls.
- You don't miss out on parties as they circulate like wild fire.
- Some halls have there own en-suite rooms which means you don't have
to share the jacks or the shower with anyone else.
- You meet some brilliant & also some weird people.
Bad points
- If you muck about and damage equipment in halls you could be thrown
out of university or college.
- Sometimes halls work out a little bit more expensive than private/rented
accommodation.
- If you decide to have a fire extinguisher water fight you could be
fined heavily again I am speaking from experience.
- Usually the walls between the rooms are very light, so if you get
lucky or pull some night keep the noise down.
- Some universities don't let you live in halls every year. So when
you are getting settled you might have to move out.
N.B. Each University/College have their own guidelines concerning halls
please refer to them for their own guidelines and terms and conditions.
