Overview

 

The successful candidate will join a fast paced In-house Design Team on the development of current/new Motoryacht furniture, GRP mouldings and components. They will have the freedom to create exciting furniture and layouts within the envelope of my client brand, helping to move them forward as they continue to develop class leading products. They will work closely with Naval Architects, Engineering and Pattern makers to produce accurate 2D/3D drawings that they will then see through to production. Above all they must be confident and able to think fast on their feet and accept new challenges on a daily basis

 

Key Skills
  • Degree in Industrial Design BA or BSc Grade 2.1 or above.
  • 3D CAD – A good working knowledge of Unigraphics NX or similar package is essential for this role
  • 2D CAD - AutoCAD
  • General computer literacy – Word/Excel
  • Good understanding of materials and basic properties GRP/Timber/Steels & Alloys
  • Strong awareness of mechanisms and mechanical principles
  • Strong conceptual skills – marker/Photoshop renderings a plus
  • A fast learner and an independent person

 

Core Role

  • Early conceptual work based around new layouts and furniture styling.
  • Development of 2D CAD general arrangement plans sections and elevations.
  • Development of 3D freeform surfaces using combination of hand sketches and 3D CAD modelling.
  • Organisation and detailing of 1:1 mock ups of major areas.
  • Presentation of concepts for approval at Director Level.
  • Work closely with Development Team as they take ideas through to production.
  • Oversee build of first yacht ensuring design intent is met, thinking laterally to overcome production issues.
