An urgent requirement for a degree qualified Junior Software Engineer has arisen to join this successful specialised portable test equipment manufacturer based in Hertfordshire. The company makes a range of products usually employing power electronics driven by embedded processors/FPGA’s and controlled remotely via PC’s and over the web. Their products are used within the electrical power industry worldwide.
This is a pure software development role where you will mainly assist with new product development which is expected to be based on System-on-FPGA and client/server web standards. You will also maintain both Windows based (legacy VB) and embedded applications (C++/Linux/assembler on x86) and should have good skills in these areas. Any experience of technologies such as Soft processors on FPGA (particularly Altera NIOS), DSP, embedded Linux, embedded Web servers, TCP/IP networking (particularly IEC61850), Web based hardware control would be useful. An electronics/physics/scientific background or some knowledge of electrical power systems would be useful but is not essential.
