Project Manager
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager to join the team based in Greenford, Middlesex. Reporting to the Head of Programmes the successful candidate will assume a customer facing role and provide both team leadership and drive project management activity for one of a number of major UK Defence programs whilst supporting the identification, development, and capture of related new business. The role will incorporate:
- Regular liaison, monitoring, problem solving and the development of pragmatic and innovative solutions with MoD customers and key sub-contractors
- Monitoring and mentoring of Project Management activity for one or more nominated projects ensuring that Customer requirements are being realized within budget and agreed timescales, with maximised profit margins.
- Monthly Business unit level programmatic reporting, the generation of cost/spend profiles, and budgetary forecasting
- Support to the Business marketing team in the identification, development and capture of emergent opportunities
- Liaison with internal Engineering, Purchasing, Production and QA departments to ensure Project goals are achieved
- Routine UK, and occasional overseas travel will be required
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
- Educated to degree level, or equivalent, preferably in an Engineering based discipline
- Demonstrable track record in the successful delivery of complex projects/ programmes
- Experience of working in the Defence Industry, ideally delivering MoD programs
- Proficient in the use of industry standard Windows based project management tools
- Self reliant and self motivated with the ability to motivate and inspire others
- Commercially astute and experienced in the development of Statements of work and the flow down of requirements through Sub-contracts
- Technically competent to engage with engineers across a range Hardware, Software, and mechanical disciplines
- Articulate with well developed communications skills to interface effectively with customers, suppliers and senior management
- Experienced and able to both lead and support Contract and Sub-contract negotiation
- The ability to identify, evaluate and develop plans to mitigate technical and program risk is essential
- Security Clearance to UK SECRET will be required
- Innovative, flexible and versatile
Desirable Background and Experience:
- Experience of managing multi-disciplined projects with a focus on systems engineering and integration is highly desirable
- A background in Naval underwater systems, or airborne military systems would be a distinct advantage
- Experience of working overseas Defence Industry contracts would be beneficial
